Abstract: Farm Radio International (FRI) is a non-government organization that helps broadcasters in agriculture to support the needs of small-scale farmers and their families in rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa. As part of this work, FRI has created Barza, an online community for rural radio broadcasters. Users have varying levels of expertise in social networks, therefore FRI helps users in understanding how best to deploy the various functions of Barza, especially when it pertains to user-generated content. Intermediaries or partners in other countries are sometimes employed by FRI in order to ensure that their radio stations are familiar with Barza resources
