Abstract: The Pan Asia Networking (PAN) localization project has been developing sustainable human capacity for R&D in local language computing and technological support for Asian Languages. Representatives of the project have interacted with policy makers to develop effective policy for local language technology, training and content across the region, and in many cases, for instance in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, countries have participated directly in ICT policy development specifying language computing development as a national goal. The “Users’ Training Experiences on Local Language Computing” book presents cases of selected countries’ computer literacy training in the PAN Localization Project.
