Description: In what could be a major breakthrough in the fight against malaria, a group of scientists in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have devised a new way of predicting malaria epidemics 3 months before they occur. Lead scientist doctor Andrew Githeko of Kenya Research Medical Institute, KEMRI says the new warning system uses climate data to detect areas which will have a high prevalence of malaria.
