Abstract: This research grant fell under the Third Output area of RPE programme framework 2005-2010 on the theme ‘productive strategies for poor rural households to participate in global economic processes’. During 2005-2006, a scoping study identified a series of relevant research questions under this theme. After the submission of the scoping study, this research programme was designed. It covered the mobilization and management of a team that coordinated and took responsibility for the design, procurement, project management, synthesis and dissemination of seven action research studies and a conceptual study that focused upon the themes of integrating poverty and environmental management issues into value chain analysis and action research methods...
