In spite of a high coverage of institutional deliveries and prenatal consultations and the level of technological and hospital infrastructure, Colombia presents high levels of maternal mortality and important differences in maternal mortality ratios by insurance regime as well as regional and socioeconomic differences.&#xD;
Objective&#xD;
To establish whether the insurance regime and the contract modality (fee for service vs. capitation) are risk factors to suffer a severe obstetric complication in Bogotá and Antioquia.&#xD;
